Learning designers should design interactive learning environments that adhere to both universal design and inclusive design principles so as to remove any possible barriers for learners. Keeping fairness in any given situation is not enough, but eradicating variability, which could lead to unfair situations, is more relevant.

By applying the universal design principle, we plan to benefit all learners, especially during times of pandemics.  Online learners who registered for this course had access to all the materials for free. For example, learners can adjust the subtitles for the video if the voice is too unclear. They can also download at their convenience. We consider the time required in each step of the learning process in order to keep learners focused. This is why we created a simple context.

Educators need to communicate effectively. It always communicates information and stimulates thinking, whether it is from instructor to learner or from student to student. Currently, a potential barrier in the learning environment is less communication, which would mean more time would be needed for sharing information. In order to promote communication among students, a class forum is created for posting students’ thoughts and questions derived from the course, they can remain anonymous if they wish and get to know each other through this forum.
